Maddie and Peyton’s Smoky Mountain Wedding

Venue | Parkside Weddings and Events

One more 2021 wedding for the blog because Maddie and Peyton’s day in the Smoky Mountains was just too good not to share. With a mix of rainy day shots on their wedding day and a few extras with the gorgeous views the day after when things cleared up, I’m ready to head back for more weddings in the mountains!

One of my favorite things about these two is how laid back and sweet their love. Here’s a snippet from the bride about putting together their destination wedding in the mountains:

"After Peyton and I went home and visited his family one weekend on their ranch in New Mexico, I fell completely in love with ranch life and deeper in love with my cowboy. From brandings to ranch rodeos, I was immersed into a new way of life and I was loving every minute of it. This is why it was difficult for Peyton and I to decide whether or not to have our wedding on the ranch in New Mexico, or in Texas, which is where I am from. We were becoming overwhelmed with the rules and restrictions required by a lot of the venues we looked at and knew a winter wedding might be a little difficult on the ranch. Peyton and I had visited Tennessee a couple of times on family trips and had fallen in love with the Smoky Mountains. So, after joking around a bit about a destination wedding, we actually discovered the perfect venue in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. At Parkside Resort we were able to book a venue and a cabin for 70 of our closest family and friends to come and celebrate our love together. We were so excited at the thought of a non-traditional weekend wedding with a more laid back atmosphere. It was so fun being able to make our wedding our own, so that we could take pictures in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. As soon as Ashley, our photographer, took our engagements at Palo Duro Canyon State Park, we knew we had to get her to come to Tennessee to take our wedding photos. She went above and beyond by taking our photos in the Smoky Mountains on our rainy wedding day and in the sunshine the morning after our wedding. Peyton and I couldn’t have asked for anything more! We were so pleased at how the day turned out and what a relaxing time it was while being able to incorporate all things cowboy; like Peyton’s brand on leather cow tag napkin rings, a tooled bridal bouquet wrap, turquoise earrings, a cowboy hat from the brides late great grandfather, along with a set of spurs and cowboy hat from Peyton’s late grandfather who was a famous cutting horse trainer. I’m so excited to continue this cowboy way of life for the rest of my life!”
